In the morning of Apr 2, 2010, Somalian pirates have made an attempt to seize the "Westermoor" and its crew of 2 Russians, 2 Germans and 17 Filipinos, 120 miles northward of Madagascar. The ship came under fire from machine guns and grenade launchers. Thanks to a maneuver and extension of speed, the ship managed to escape. The ship was slightly damaged but able to continue its voyage.
