Msc-Romane

The 'MSC Romane' was in collision with the yacht 'Kleen Breeze' 84 nautical miles northwest of Arrecife in position 30 01 54 N, 014 34 19 W on Feb 5, 2022, at 05.50 a.m. UTC. The yacht suffered a leak. The Tenerife-based SAR helicopter Helimer 215 and the SAR vessel 'Salvamar Calliope' were mobilised, but were not required. Thre 'MSC Romane' communicated to the safety authorities that the three men crew on the yacht were safe and sound and the yacht pulled alongside the container ship. On Nov 25, 2020, short after 1 p.m., the 'MSC Romane', enroute from Long Beach to Vancouver, lost six containers while sailing northbound through a shipping lane 30 miles off the Humboldt County. On Dec 1, the Humboldt Harbor Safety Committee Chair Leroy Zerlang received an email from the supervisor at the U.S. Coast Guard’s Sector Marine Safety Detachment Humboldt Bay alerting him to the situation and giving the location of the spill. The Coast Guard was still working to determine the contents of the containers, but they weren’t carrying any hazardous materials or pollutants. On Dec 28 the Coast Guard did a flyover and found some debris in the area, but no sign of the containers.
