Msc-Grandiosa

On Nov 6, 2025, shortly before 9:00 p.m. Salvamento Marítimo was asked to evacuate a 62-year-old Italian woman from the 'MSC Grandiosa', who was suffering from a respiratory failure. The ship was located 47 nautical miles south of Tarragona, en route from Valencia to Marseille. The Helimer 222 helicopter took off from the Reus Airport and arrived at the cruise ship at around 9:30 p.m. The passenger and the cruise ship's doctor were hoisted onto the helicopter. During the transfer to the Reus Airport, the patient went into a cardiac arrest. Upon landing, the woman was transferred to an ambulance, which then transported her to Sant Joan Hospital in Reus. A 61-year-old Dutch passenger of the ' MSC Grandiosa', which was docked in Livorno on July 21, 2024, while lounging by the pool, had an accident with a sun lounger which resulted in part of his finger being amputated. The ship's doctor quickly intervened, preserving the detached segment and controlling the bleeding. Around noon, a call to emergency services brought ambulances from the Misericordia of Antignano. The tourist, after receiving initial care from the ship’s medical staff, was transported to a hospital in Livorno in stable condition.

On Sep 2, 2022, at 6.04 p.m. a patient was medevaced from the 'MSC Gradiosa', en route from Flåm to Copenhagen, east of Skagen. A rescue helicopter was deployed from Aalborg and hoisted the person who was transported to the Ålborg hospital for medical treamtment.

On Feb 16, 2021, a passenger of the 'MSC Grandiosa' tested positive for COVID-19. The ship left Genoa on FEb 14 on a seven-day cruise. The passenger who tested positive for the virus was isolated, as was his wife who tested negative. The close contacts of the couple were promptly traced, who were in turn isolated and tested. The contacts tests were negative and remain on board in isolation. MSC had made arrangements with facilities in Palermo where the couple was transferred into one of the facilities that the company has reserved. The two guests disembarked in the morning of FEb 17. The 'MSC Grandiosa' continued on with its regularly scheduled itinerary. The ship performs week-long cruises in the Mediterranean with stops in Civitavecchia, Naples, Palermo and Malta. This was the fourth cruise of the year.
