Rotterdam-Pearl-V

On Jan 3, 2026, at around 9.40 p.m. LT fire broke out aboard the 'Rotterdam Pearl V' in the port of Yingkou Bayuquan in the Liaoning province. After flames and thick smoke were observed, the crew activated the emergency procedure and notified the port authorities. The Yingkou Port’s emergency support centre, local firefighting units and maritime authorities immediately responded and deployed rescue personnel, fire engines and fireboats to the scene. The firefighters conducted on-site assessments, started spraying cooling water and launched suppression measures. The fire could be extinguished without a risk of reignition. It originated from a plug on the vessel, while the exact cause remained under investigation. The ship had departed Baoshan, Shanghai, on Dec 19, 2025, and hadarrived at the Bayuquan Steel Terminal on Dec 31, where it was still berthed at the time of the incident. The bulk carrier had been detained in December for a Port State Control inspection.
