Oil leak in engine disabled bulkcarrier
The "Nordkap", being en route from Hamburg to Trombetas sailing in ballast with a crew of 22 on board, went adrift 7.87 miles south of Dungeness point in position 50 48 24.6 N, 001 00 24.6 E, on Oct 14, 2018, at 08.50 a.m. due to an oil leak in the engine. The filters and seals needed replacement, with an estimated time for completion of repairs as of 30 minutes. No assistance requested. All repairs have been completed and the vessel resumed the voyage to its destination after repairs were completed.
