The Cape May-Lewes ferry "New Jersey" carrying 143 people across the Delaware Bay was stranded in the afternoon of March 29, 2019, leaving potential passengers to look for other ways to travel across the body of water. The ferry, which left Cape May at 1 p.m., suffered an engine malfunction to its starboard engine while crossing the Delaware Bay. The passengers had to wait two hours for a tug to help pull the ferry back to the Cape May, New Jersey. She moored at the Cape May Ferry Terminal at 3 p.m.

On Apr 8, 2016, Cape May-Lewes Ferry (CMLF) officials announced that the "New Jersey" would undergo an unscheduled dry-docking to make repairs to conditions discovered during an underwater inspection last week. The inspection was completed in lieu of dry-docking. Results of the inspection included areas of the hull-plate and some welds that required attention that cannot be accomplished in the ferry’s yard. The dry-docking will take place at Caddell’s Shipyard in Staten Island and take about three weeks to complete.
