Shadow tankers ending on the breaker's beach
Besides the Suezmax "Adalynn", which collided with Frontline's "Front Eagle" and arrived at the Gadani shipbreaking yard on Oct 20, also the 'Neer 1' has been sent for scrapping in Bhavnagar and dropped anchor in pos. 21° 42' N 072° 25' E. The 'Adalynn' was part of the fleet of the Oceanpack Ship Management, which, is associated with private individuals in India who have built up a shadow fleet through several companies. The shipbroker Pareto Securities stated that it was interesting that ships involved in the Russia-India trade are now being scrapped and pointed out that it was not surprising that the "Adalynn" was scrapped, also the "Neer 1", which is owned by unnamed players and has exclusively transported from Russia to India recently, will be broken up. Both ships were built in 2002.
