Nea-Tyhi

On Nov 25, 2018, at 11.24 a.m. the "Nea Tyhi" suffered a blackout, got out of control and allided with the VITCO oil pier in the port complex of Zarate on the River Paraná, while proceeding downstream from San Lorenzo to Bahia Blanca. The vessel was sailing downriver from ADM berth carrying 50.000 metric tonnes of soybean seeds as cargo on board. The wharf with its cargo equipment were almost totally destroyed, the hull of the bulkcarrier suffered damages at the portside bow. The bulkcarrier with 50.000 tons of soybeans on board moved upstream from the accident site and was ordered by the Prefecture to drop anchor at river km 120. Due to the collapse of the pier and its dolfins, the navigation was suspended in the area until the survey tasks have been completed. The bulkcarrier was still at anchor in pos. 34° 1.38' W 059° 6.95' S on Nov 27.
