Ringaskjaer

In the night of Jan 12, 2019, the "Ringaskjær", which had sailed from Skjervøy on Jan 11 at 8.20 a.m., ran aground on a rock between Hekkingen and Senja and suffered water ingress. Within some hours the cargo of 300 tons herring was removed from the casualty. The fish carrier was then refloated with own power. As the situation was uncertain, four boats and one helicopter were sent to the ship. When the lifeboat "Oscar Tybring IV" arrived 1,5 hours after the grounding, the "Ringaskjær" was floating, but took in a lot of water. The crew stopped the main engine and the lifeboat started work with all available dewatering pumps.
