Morning-Ninni

More details have emerged regarding the captain of the "Morning Ninni" who was found adrift at sea and clinging to a life buoy off the coast of southern Spain after falling overboard. Passers-by near the port of Tarifa spotted the man in the water on May 15 as he struggled to stay afloat in high winds and strong waves. He was found by rescuers wearing only a white T-shirt and gripping a rigid life buoy fitted with a beacon. He presented signs of extreme hypothermia, bloated lips, face and eyes, and swollen eyelids due to exposure to the sun and salty water, indicating he had been adrift for several hours. The man, also had bruises and severe hip pain making the transfer to shore and hospital difficult. Despite rough seas, he was rescued and taken to the Punta de Europa hospital in Algeciras. Officers later discovered the drifter was the captain of the "Morning Ninni" that had been sailing across the Gibraltar strait. The ship had alerted Spanish rescue services that a man may have fallen overboard.

On May 15, 2017, the master of the "Morning Ninni", which was transiting the Mediterranean Sea off the Spanish coast, coming from Bremerhaven, fell over board short past noon near Tarifa. Salvamento Maritimo dipsatched the Helimer 203 helicopter which started an intense search for the missing man. The vehicles carrier also turned around, following its own track back. The man was found unconscious on the beach at Tarifa, Algeciras, with a life ring of the ship, at 7 p.m. and taken to hospital. His condition was described as serious. The vessel resumed the voyage to Derince.

The "Morning Ninni" was reported disabled and adrift in the vicinity of 48 00N 134 40W, about 400 miles east of Juan de Fuca Strait, on July 4, 2015. The vessel was en route from Mokpo Korea to New Westminster.
