Italian minister illegally refused disembarkation of rescued migrants
On Oct 15, 2018, the "Just Fitz III" saved 44 distressed migrants in the Mediterranean Sea. The ship was enroute from Constanta to sfax and diverted to the boat south of Lampedusa in Malta waters. The Italian minister Matteo Salvini illegally refused to embark the migrants in the nearest port, which would have been Lampedusa. Due to the deterioration of weather conditions Malta allowed the migrants to embark on Oct 18.
