Norway's Knutsen to deliver LNG to Japan via Northeast Passage
Norway's Knutsen OAS Shipping has received permission from Russian authorities for transportation of LNG to Japan on the Northern Sea Route. The 6898dwt Ribera Duero Knutsen might be the first tanker to ship Norwegian LNG from Hammerfest to Asia via the northern shipping lane, Knutsen’s Nils Kristian Strøm and Synnøve Seglem told the Skipsrevyen in a recent interview. According to Synnøve Seglem at Knutsen OAS Shipping, “We currently have no contract with Statoil for delivery of gas from Snøhvit gas to Asia, but technically, such a delivery is now possible with this permit,” she told NRK, “The first shipment will be completed in June and shipments will end in October, depending on ice conditions in during the season,” the Foreigner reported.
