One more seafarer infected with COVID-19

The 'Montpellier', which was deployed on the Middle East India Africa Express (MIAX) service, will have to remain under quarantine after another seafarer on board tested positive for the coronavirus. The ship remained at the Durban outer anchorage. On 18 May the ship initially had to go under 14 days of quarantine off Durban.

Middle East India Africa Express (MIAX) service – MV “Montpellier” voyage 2017w – COVID-19 Incident Aboard the “Montpellier” voyage 2017w, deployed in our Middle East India Africa Express (MIAX) service, two members of the crew tested positive for COVID-19 in Durban after the arrival on May 17, 2020. As a safety measure, the local authorities have ordered the vessel must remain at anchorage for 14 days, and has further directed that no cargo operations can be undertaken at this time. Berthing at Durban and subsequent ports of the rotation will be adjusted accordingly.

Container feeder service Femex1 adds Zeebrugge to the schedule

French liner CMA CGM has added Zeebrugge to the FEMEX1 container feeder service. Femex1 offers a weekly direct connection between the Turkish market and North-European ports. It also connects Zeebrugge to the port of Casablanca in Morocco, the company said in its press release. Port of Zeebrugge constitutes as an important hub for deepsea container services, connecting the coastal port to the Middle and Far East several times a week. Zeebrugge has been added to the new Femex1 sailing schedule, which e have a connection to the most important ports in the Mediterranean, especially with the Turkish market, because the service calls on the ports of Kumport, Haydarpasa, Gebze, Gemlik and Aliaga. Tangiers en Casablanca are also ports of call in this service. The first ship in this renewed service, CMA CGM Lavender, will arrive in the port on January 23 2015.
