Pirates took three seafarers as hostage
On Oct 25, 2021, at 9.27 p.m. the 'Montet Tide', en route from Punta Europa to Malongo with 14 crew members on board, was attacked by pirates 50 nautical miles southwest of Biolo Island in pos. 02 35 29 N, 007 59 13 E, about 62 nautical miles southwest of Luba, Equatorial Guinea. An unknown number of pirates boarded the vessel, taking three crew members with them as hostages. 11 crew members retreated into the citadel and were safe. At the time of the attack, the vessel had an estimated three metres freeboard and was underway at seven knots. The assailants departed the vessel on Oct 26 at around 4 a.m.
