Fery renamed after saie
Less than four days after its sale to a Norwegian group, the former 'MN Pelican' of the French Maritime company was now bearing its new name, 'Link Neptune'. The painting work was carried out this past weekend in Le Havre, just after the sale. The ship had arrived in port on Jan 21, enroute from Bilbao. Ferry sold to Norwest Ship Management
The Norwest Ship Management has acquired the 'MN Pelican' from the Compagnie Maritime Nantaise - MN. The representatives of Norwest Ship Management and Compagnie Maritime Nantaise – MN were in Le Havre, as wa the ship, on Jan 21, 2026, to sign the sale contract The 'MN Pelican', formerly the 'Trans Botnia', was built at the Fosen shipyard in Norway in 1999. She has belonged to Compagnie Maritime Nantaise - MN since 2007. She was first chartered on behalf of the French Ministry of Defence for missions around the globe (2007-2016), and later, on behalf of BAI (Brittany Ferries) for conventional freight transport between Poole and Bilbao from 2016 to 2025.

Brittany Ferries has extended the charter of the freight ro-ro MN PELICAN by a further two years.
Medevac off Penmarc'h
On Feb 23, 2016 at 0:57 a.m. the CROSS Etel was notified by the Maritime Medical Consultation Centre that a crew member of the "MN Pelican" had injured his hand. Following a conference call, the decision was made to medevac thim by helicopter to the hospital La Cavale Blanche in Brest. The ship was 63 miles southwest of the tip of Penmarc'h at that time. A Cayman helicopter took off from the naval air base Lanvéoc Poulmic with a medical team on board on Feb 24 a.m. and reached the ship at 3:00 a.m. The medical team was hoisted on board, and at 3:44, the wounded and the medical team were winched aboard the helicopter and reached the hospital La Cavale Blanche at 4:10 a.m.

THE latest Brittany Ferries ship has embarked on its first voyage from Poole Harbour. Pelican, a 155-metre long freight vessel left for the Spanish port of Bilbao at the weekend, carrying 72 trailers and six lorries. MN Pelican has been chartered from shipping company Maritime Nantaise and is expected to drive even more business through the port of Poole. It is a French-registered roll on-roll off ship with the capacity to carry around 100 unoccupied trailers. Brittany Ferries freight director Simon Wagstaff said: "Freight activity to and from the United Kingdom is undergoing a period of strong growth, particularly the unoccupied market. "We see this on a daily basis in the cargo decks of our vessels, especially on those operating to and from Spain.
