Suspected arms smuggling ship berthed in Djibouti

The Djibouti Security Service suspected the 'Red Sea 1' in arms trafficking in the Gulf of Aden, claiming that the ship was tampering with her tracking records to hide calls at ports in Puntland, Somalia and Yemen. The ship was trading in Gulf of Aden with regular visits to Djibouti, and track data were showinmg only Djibouti calls since at least March 2019. The crew included Georgian, Cameroonian, Romanian, Russian and local nationalities. On March 16, 2020, at 7.10 a.m. the ship berthed at the Djibouti General Cargo & CFS Terminals.

Red Sea Bunkering Officially Launches New Bunker Barge

Djibouti-based Red Sea Bunkering has officially launched its new bunker barge Red Sea 1, in a ceremony attended by H.E Ismael Omar Guelleh, President of Djibouti. "Historically, Djibouti has been a major bunkering point and has handled 1.8 million tons in 1968," it was noted. "Red Sea 1 is a 9,600 deadweight tonne (DWT) double-hull tanker, with total capacity of products approximately 10,000 CBM and is equipped with three cargo pumps of 500 cbm / hour each, a bow thruster and a stern manifold." a spokesperson for the company has previously explained to Ship & Bunker. http://shipandbunker.com/news/world/916908-red-sea-bunkering-officially-launches-new-bunker-barge
