Two crew members burnt in engine room

On April 8, 2021, two Romanian crew members of the 'Rapallo' were burnt due to exposure to fuel oil while on duty in the ship's engine room in Port Dickson. They were taken to Port Dickson Hospital for further treatment and transferred to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). A preliminary investigations was still underway to identify the cause of the incident. Thee ship remained at the Jimah Energy Ventures (JEV) Terminal, Port Dickson, for cargo unloading and will be anchored after the completion of the work. A team of investigators from the Central Region Marine Department (Port Dickson and Port Klang) has been set up in accordance with Section 334 (1) of the Merchant Shipping Ordinance 1952.

On Feb 23 around 3:30 a.m. the two tugs "Svitzer Trym" and the larger "Fairplay 33" (IMO:9476006), which had been dispatched from Bremerhaven on Feb 21 and had arrived on Feb 22 at 7:30 p.m. to refloat the "Rapallo off Anholt . The ship then moved away about four miles from the position where it ran aground and anchored off Frederikshavn in the afternoon to be surveyed by divers. Tug and anti pollution vessel on site

The "Rapallo" remained firmly stuck five miles east of Anholt on Feb 22. The anti pollution vessel "Mette Miljø" and the tug "Svitzer Trym" were on site. The tug had reached the bulker on Feb 21 at 3.30 p.m. the anti pollution vessel at 8 p.m. It released the guard ship "Mickey A" which initially had monitored the grounding site.
