Tanker rescued crew of distressed yacht
A Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City HC-130 Hercules aircrew and the crew of the 'Radiant Pride', enroute from Brownsville to Tarragona, rescued three people on Feb 2, 2026, at approximately 2:20 a.m., from a sailing vessel, which had started taking on water, about 450 nautical miles east of Daytona Beach. Coast Guard Southeast District command center watchstanders received an EPIRB alert on Feb 1 at approximately 3:20 p.m. and launched the aircrew, which located the yacht at approximately 8:30 p.m. in 20-foot seas. The HC-130 issued a distress radio broadcast requesting assistance for any mariners in the area to respond. The tanker responded, and the three mariners were brought aboard the 'Radiant Pride' in stable condition with no injuries reported.
