Kv-Njord

The "Njord" and the "Idar Ulstein“ were involved in an SAR operation in the night of March 26, 2017. Short past midnight the skipper of a fishing vessel of 26 ft raised alert as he drifted aground in a storm in southern Hitra. Due to wrong coordinated the lifeboat arrived on scene in the Ramsøy Sound only at 3 a.m. The casualty was lying on its side on rocks at forsnes. The "Idar Ulstein“ launched a rescue runner to recover the fisherman from Kristiansund safely. When the "Njord" approached the site in the morning hours, the fishing vessel had submerged with the rising tide. It was refloated with air balloons and pulled to a yard ashore. The tug "Lomax" ran aground at Lerøyosen in the Kors Fjord in the night from Feb 28 to Mar 1, 2015. The Norwegian Coastguard was notified about the incident shortly after midnight. The ambulance boat "Rygervakt" arrived first at the site. The "Njord" was asked to assist the 25-meter tug and was on scene 15 minutes after later. With a pump the "Njord" made attempts to dewater the tug and undertook several attempts topull the vessel off jointly with the "Rygerbuen". But due to the combination of shallow waters around the tug, strong winds and heavy seas it capsized before it could be salvaged. At 02.30 the crew of two was evacuated and taken aboard the "Njord" and taken to the Flesland quay.
