Allision with lock head
On Jan 3, 2023, at 10.20 p.m. the 'Ozgur Aksoy', en route to La Rochelle-Pallice, allided with the Zandvliet lock on the right bank of Antwer when entering the lock. The ship hit the upper head of the lock annd sustained damage, after which it was decided to dock in the port for inspections by the Port State Control. The 'Ozgur Aksoy' suffered a crack under the water line at port side and starboard side. She set sail for the Zandvliet lock again just after midnight. The cause of the accident is not yet known. There were no injuries. The lock remained opeating. The ship berthed at the Bevrijding Dock for further investigations. As of Jan 5, it was moored at the Delwaide Dock Bulk Terminal.
