Master medevaced off Lowestoft

Mar 19, 2019 20:49

The master of the "FS Carrick" needed to be medevaced on March 18, 2019, in position 052 28 48.0 N, 001 56 54.0 E, 6.5 miles east of Lowestoft, at 10 a.m. The RNLI boat "Patsy Knight" was called out from Lowestoft at 10.15 a.m. and attended the offshore supply vessel. A Coastguard rescue helicopter from Humber with a paramedic on board was also sent to the incident. Two crew members of the lifeboat were transferred onto the ship to assess and care for the casualty. β€œThey gave him oxygen before a paramedic on board the helicopter was lowered on to the supply ship. It was then decided to airlift him from the vessel and he was taken to the James Paget University Hospital in Gorleston for further treatment. The offshore vessel was heading to Great Yarmouth to pick a relief captain. Report with photos: https://www.lowestoftjournal.co.uk/news/man-airlifted-to-hospital-from-ship-1-5944112
