Ouro-Do-Brasil

Three people, one deceased, were taken to Cape Verde after their sailboat sank 528 kilometers from Gran Canaria. The two crew members who survived the accident, suffered burns but were in good healt after being rescued by the 'Ouro do Brasil'. The yacht with three Lithuanian citizens on board sank on the early morning of Jan 31, 2026, about 285 nautucal miles from the Canary Islands for reasons that were still under investigation. One crew member died as a result of the accident, while the two survivors, who suffered minor injuries, managed to issue a distress call and were rescued a few hours later by the tanker, which was nearest merchant ship. They were transported to a port in Cape Verde aboard the 'Ouro do Brasil'.
