Tanker attacked off Turkey
The 'Midvolga 2', loaded with 6000 tons sunflower oil and with 15 crew members on board, en route from Rostov-on-Don to Mersin, was by an UAV which flew in from the direction of Odesa, in the Black Sea, appoximately 130 kilometres off the Turkish coast on Dec 2, 2025, but did not make a request for assistance. The strike hit the wheelhouse, where the captain and the 2nd engineer were located. Both sustained shrapnel wounds. The crew was reportedly safe, and the ship was proceeding towards Sinop with its engines operating. Ukraine denied any involvement in the attack and called the situation illogical, suggesting that Russia itself may have staged the incident as propaganda. Turkey's transport ministry said it had been informed of the attack, but that the ship did not request assistance. The attack followed a separate drone wave earlier last week and the CPC Pipeline headquarters at Novorossiysk on Nov 26, which handles over 1% of global oil supply and nearly 80% of Kazakhstan’s exports. The terminal operates three single-point moorings. SPM2 was disabled in the strike and may be out of operation for up to a year. The backup SPM3 has been offline for maintenance since November 12 and was expected to return only in about two months, while SPM1 remained the sole operational mooring point. The volumes were at about half of their usual level. The Turkish Directorate General of Maritime Affairs reported on Nov 28 that an explosion had occurred on the tanker 'Kairos' and half an hour later on the tanker 'Virat'. Ukrainian drones reportedly attacked the ships. Both ships sail under the Gambian flag but are believed to be part of the Russian shadow fleet and were secretly transporting Russian oil. On Nov 17, the Turkish tanker 'Orinda' was attacked by Russian drones. This LPG ship was moored in Izmauil on the Danube. Prosecutor demands four years prison for captain of Russian ship for gross negligence in fatal collision
The Barcelona public prosecutor's office is demanding four years in prison for the captain of the 'Midvolga 2' which was in collision with the fishing boat 'El Fairell' in March 20177 when leaving the port of Barcelona en route to Alexandria, in which two fishermen drowned. Despite favourable weather conditions and a good sight, the tanker hit the 25-metre long fishing boat which approached the fishing quay from the starboard side. Three crew members fell overboard, of which only one managed to surface. The other two, a 33-year-old Moroccan and a 36-year-old Senegalese, were first reported missing and found dead a few days later by the Civil Guard. The captain of the Russian ship appeared before the Barcelona criminal court on March 28, 2023, accused to be responsible for the two deaths due to gross negligence. If the court imposes a prison sentence of more than 12 months, the public prosecutor asks that the captain of the Russian ship be removed from Spanish territory and banned from entering Spain for 10 years.
