Travestern hit Havelstern

The "Travestern" and the "Havelstern" were in allision at the Comfort Cove-Newstead Anchorage, northern Newfoundland, on June 18, 2017. The "Havelstern" was anchored, and the passing "Travestern" was caught by a gust of wind which pushed her stern towards the stern of the "Havelstern". No serious damages and no leaks were reported, however, both tankers’ sterns suffered damages above the waterline. The "Travestern" continued the voyage and arrived at its port of destination, Lewisporte, on June 19. Both vessels were loaded with diesel and jet fuel at the time of the accident.

Tanker grounded on St. Lawrence River

On May 19, 2017, the "Travestern" suffered a mechanical problem at 1.50 p.m. and ran aground on the Lancaster Bar, east of Cornwall, on the St. Lawrence River at 4 p.m. The tanker was en route from Hamilton to Montreal when it got stuck near Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, abeam of Lancaster at Cazaville. There were no spills or injuries among the crew. Two Transportation Safety Board (TSB) investigators wnt on on board the vessel which was towed on the Lake St. Francis. Ship traffic was adversely affected by this grounding. The casualty was refloated by two tugs and then moored near Salaberry-de-Valleyfield for surveys. Nunavut-bound cargo and tanker vessel 'Travestern' due to arrive at Iqaluit

As sealift season gets underway in the eastern Arctic this week, the first ships were expected to arrive in Iqaluit Wednesday evening, July 3 at the earliest, Coast Guard officials said. The cargo vessel Umiavut, operated by Nunavut Eastern Arctic Shipping, and the tanker Travestern, operated by the Woodward Group of Companies, will make their way up Frobisher Bay to Iqaluit with the help of Canadian Coast Guard icebreaker Henry Larsen, said officials with the Canadian Coast Guard’s Arctic office in Iqaluit.
