Aqua-1

The 'Aqua 1', managed by OSM Thome and chartered by the state-owned QatarEnergy, was hit by an Iranian cruise missile in Qatari waters in the morning of April 1, 2026, sparking a fire on board. The fire has been extinguished by the crew. Qatar was targeted by three cruise missiles coming from Iran, two of which were intercepted while the third hit the tanker at port side, but caused no casualties. The vessel, located 17 nautical miles north of Qatar’s Ras Laffan industrial hub, suffered damage above the waterline, but no environmental impact was reported by the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) and QatarEnergy. A second projectile, which hit the vessel, was lodged in the engine room and was being investigated the authorities. Security sources indicated that the tanker was struck by a drone.
