Anchors got entangled

On the evening of July 19, 2024, the master of the 'Apollon Hellas', while executing the scheduled route from Aegina to Piraeus, suffered a technical problem which caused the vessel's anchors to get entangled during the berthing manover in the port of Piraeus. The ferry safely disembarked the passengers, and the next scheduled route to Aegina was served out by another ferry provided by the shipping company. The Port Authority of Piraeus initially banned the 'Apollon Hellas' from sailing. After presenting a certificate of seaworthiness by the monitoring classification society, the ship could resume its service.

Mechanical damage off Piraeus

In the morning of March 9, 2024, the Central Port Authority of Piraeus was informed by the Master of the 'Apollon Hellas', that during the scheduled route of the ship from the port of Piraeus to the port of Aegina, there was a mechanical failure in the port side main engine. The ship returned to the port under its own power and safely disembarked the 453 passengers as well as the loaded vehicles. The Piraeus Port Authority banned the ship from sailing until the damage was repaired and a certificate of class preservation was presented by the monitoring classification society. The passengers and vehicles were forwarded to their destination by the care of the shipping company.

In the early morning of Feb 8, 2024, the 'Apollon Hellas' suffered an engine failure ahead of its scheduled departure from the port of Piraeus to the island of Aegina with 130 passengers, 35 cars, 13 trucks and six two-wheelers on board. Efforts were started to repair the damage, and the ship resumed its service on Feb 9 at 7.45 p.m.
