On November 3, 2015, the chemical tanker Elbtank Italy entered the Remontowa yard for docking and overhaul. The ship departed under a new name and another owner, as well in a new livery, the yard’s press center says. It is, by far, not the first time, that the ship sale-purchase was finalised during its stay at Remontowa Shiprepair Yard SA or at least visible signs of the transaction came out there. In the moring of No 14, 2011, the "Elbtank Italy" enroute Rotterdam-St. Petersburg suffered rudder failure during the eastbound transit of the Kiel Canal and ran into the embankment at the passing point Fischerhütte. The ship destroyed seven pilings on a length of 180 metres, sinking three of them and seriously damaging the other four which now are extending obliquely into the fairway so that ships currently cannot be moored on the southern side of the canal. The "Elbtank Italy" moored at the Bominflot bunker station in Kiel at 11.45 a.m. for damage assessment.
