Medevac off Ushant
A 53 yar old crew member of the 'Anthem of the Seas' had to be medevaced off the coast of Ushant by helicopter on the morning of June 3, 2024, due to chest pain. Around 8 a.m. the medical evacuation operation was decided by the Maritime Medical Coordination Center when the ship was 38 nautical miles northwest of the island. The patient was airlifted aboard a Lanvéoc H160 helicopter at 9:18 a.m. and transferred to the Brest hospital center, where he was treated at 10:20 a.m.
Double medevac off New York
A medical emergency involving two people on the 'Anthem of the Seas' in theport of New York prompted a water rescue in the eveningf of Nov 12, 2023. Police responded to a 911 call regarding one person having a seizure and another person experiencing chest pains at around 4:21 p.m. A helicopter was deployed to the ship as it was traveling towards the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge. The NYPD Harbor Unit conducted the medevac of the two people from the cruise ship, who were brought to Homeport Pier on Staten Island. They were met by emergency medical services (EMS) and transported to Staten Island University Hospital in Ocean Breeze. Medevac in Solent
The lifeboat RNLB 'Alfred Albert Williams'of the RNLI station Bembridge was launched on Sep 23, 2022, to medivac a 70 year old woman from the ‘Anthem of the Seas’ at around 8:20 p.m. at the request of Solent Coastguard. The cruise ship had left Southampton earlier and was eight miles south of Bembridge. With the 'Anthem of the Seas' heading back to the Solent, it did not take long to transfer the casualty in a stretcher onto the lifeboat. The 'Alfred Albert Williams' then headed back to the Offshore Boathouse where an ambulance was to take the patient to St Mary’s Hospital, Newport. However just before recovering, they were advised that there would be a considerable delay in the arrival of the ambulance, so it was decided to take the casualty to Portsmouth instead. After a very short delay at the Camber waiting for an ambulance, the 'Alfred Albert Williams' returned to Bembridge and was recovered by 10:50 p.m.
