Search for missing fishing vessel

The Canadian Coast Guard was searching for a missing fishing vessel off the coast of Newfoundland that has not been heard from since the evening of July 17, 2024. The vessel was last located 160 nautical miles northeast of Gander, Len Hickey. Officials received a call at around 3:30 p.m. that afternoon that it hadn't reached its destination. The last transponder notice was made at 8:30 p.m. The two Canadian Coast Guard vessels CCGS 'Conception Bay' and the CCGS 'Ann Harvey' were involved in the search. A Cormorant helicopter was also involved, but has since returned to land after encountering fog, along with a Hercules aircraft. At least local seven fishing boats are also involved in the search.

Ann Harvey reached St. John's

The "Ann Harvey" reached dockside at St. John's harbour in the evening of Apr 9, as preparations were made to assess and repair damage to the hull after the "Telost" began towing the damaged ship from Connaire Bay to St. John's two days before. An assessment of the hull was to be completed in the coming days dockside, and repairs were to be made in dry dock.

CCGS Ann Harvey Under Tow to St. Johns Five Days After Grounding

The Canadian Coast Guard buoy tender Ann Harvey began its trek home Monday evening (Apr. 6) 5 days after running aground off the southern coast of Newfoundland. As of Monday morning, crews were working to complete welding work to repair a small puncture in the ship’s stern before her departure from Connaire Bay near Burgeo, NL, where the vessel ran aground on April 1. According to an update late Monday from Fisheries and Oceans Canada, CCGS Ann Harvey departed Monday evening under tow by the CCGS Teleost. The vessel is headed for St. John’s Newfoundland, a 300 mile trip that is expected to take about two days. Involved in the response and repair operations has been crews from the HMCS Charlottetown and CCGS Louis St. Laurent. All 26 crew of the Ann Harvey have remained onboard during the repair work and now the tow. The tow will be escorted part by the CCGS Louis St. Laurent, followed CCGS G. Jackman and CCGS Cape Roger.
