Grounding in Randers Fjord

On Jan 5, 2018, at 12.17 a.m. the "Kaisa" ran aground approaching the Randers Fjord. The ship was detained by the Danish maritime authority until a survey of the hull of the vessel by a diver had been carried out. After it was found out that the hull had not sustained damage, the ship was released and able to back off with own power. The ship was underway from Ventspils to Rostock at that time, where it finally arrived on Jan 8 at 11 a.m.

Intoxicated master ran ship aground

Coming from Salacgriva, the "Kaisa" ran aground in the afternoon of June 8, 2014, at 3.20 p.m. in the Øre Sound off the entrance of Helsingborg's bulk port. Short time before the Coast Guard was alerted, the ship mananged to back off with own power. The Air Patrol 501 was called to the scene and found that no oil leaked from the ship. The ship docked in port at 3.15 p.m. The police was called for breathalyzer testings of the crew by the Coasguard who suspected that alcohol had played a role in the inicident. The Lithuanian master turned out to be heavily intoxicated with an alcohol level of 2,7 per thousand. He was ttaken in arrest. The captain, aged 46, admitted in a hearing that he had been at the helm of the ship but denied crimes when he stated that he drank alcohol after the grounding. High tide helped to refloat grounded freighter

The "Kaisa" which had run aground in the approach to the Randers Fjord refloated without tug assistance on Mar 18 at noon. With the high tide it managed to pull off and headed for Randers. The SOK had sent the patrol boat "Najaden" to monitor the situation. The ship after the ban was lifted proceeded to Szczecin where it docked on Mar 23.
