Former mussel trawler to become research vessel Lepelaar
Rijkswaterstaat has purchased the former Irish mussel trawler 'BS-12 Lottie Holly'. The vessel will be converted into a research vessel for the fisheries sector at Damen Maaskant in Stellendam, the former Maaskant Shipyards, which had built the vessel in 2013 for Kim Mould of Myti Mussels Ltd. in Beaumaris. In 2022, the Dingemanse family, who settled in Wexford over 25 years ago, acquired Myti Mussels from Kim Mould, including the 'Lottie Holly' and the 'BS-8 Valente', which had already been laid up by Mould some time before that and was put up for sale. In summer of 2026, the 'Lottie Holly' is expected to enter service under the name 'Lepelaar', replacing the 'Stern', which has been deployed for other research tasks.
