Malangen

The"Malangen" , serving on the route Igerøy-Tjøtta, had to be taken out of operation until further notice on July 15, 2025, at 10.12 a.m. The Nordland County Council announced that the ferry had suffered technical trouble.

An employee of Torghatten Nord was taken to hospital by helicopter after having suffered a serious injury in a work accident on Oct 10, 2017 at 10.30 a.m. The accident happened aboard the "Malangen" at 09.30 a.m. A lifeboat used in an exercise came lose and dropped several meters. The man complained of back pain. The Labor Inspectorate and Norwegian Maritime Directorate were notified. The ferry was sidelined in Hansnes port for investigations, and one departure in the afternoon was cancelled, before the replacement ferry "Vensøy" (IMO: 9588782) was inserted on the route Hansnes - Karsøy - Vannøy.

The ferry route Hansnes - Karlsøy - Vannøy was interrupted in the evening of Feb 11, 2015, after the "Malangen" allided with the pier at Vannøy. The ship suffered a gash of 40 centimeters in the bow and will have to be repaired in a yard in Tromsø. The accident happend in strong winds, up to 38 seconds meters per second. The Ferry "Vengsøy" was to be inserted as a replacement as soon as we possible, but because of the bad weather it was uncertain whether the "Vengsøy" could operated the route. In the meantime the ambulance boat "Håkon Hoel" was to assist if the weather permitted and there was no ambulance boat needed otherwise.
