The crew of the 'Tomini Majesty' has announced a hunger strikeon Sep 8, 2020. The 21 Ukrainians have been stuck on the vessel for at least 12 months, without being able to be repatriated. The crew decided to strike out of despair. On Sep 8, they blocked the passage to the engine room to prevent dock workers from continuing their repair work, hoping in this way to influence the shipowner. According to the crew members, back in March 2020, the first owner of the ship had the opportunity to send the sailors home, but referring to the worldwide pandemic, but he did not want to spend money on replacing the crew. In mid-July 2020, the vessel was sold to another owner, the Tomini Shipping, along with the entire crew. The vessel proceeded into the dock at Huafeng, Zhoushan province. The new owner of the vessel promised the sailors that within a month he would change the crew or finish repairs to the vessel, and it would depart for Hong Kong, where the crew members would be repatriated. Almost two months have since passed, and the situation remained the same with the vessel still at Zhoushan.
