Cargo ship towed to Cherbourg
Enroute from Rouen, where she had sailed on Dec 17, to Nador the "Abis Cardiff" reported engine trouble to the CROSS Jobourg, on Dec 18, 2014, at 3 p.m. The vessel was drifting 18 nm north of the Cap de la Hague in the English Channel. The owner contracted the "Abeille Liberte" (IMO; 9308699) to assist. In the evening the ship was taken under tow despite bad weather. The convoy arrived off Cherbourg at 4:10 a.m. in the morning of Dec 19, supported by the port tugs "Sirocco" and "Saire" of theCherbourg naval base. The ship was anchored and waited for another tug to be towed to Rotterdam.
