Engine trouble in English Channel
The "JY Power", en route from Ust-Luga to the Suez Canal, suffered a main engine defect in position 50 14 00 N, 001 30 00 W, on Jan 21, 2018, at 04.25 a.m. Repair works were to be carried out in Lyme Bay where the ship dropped anchor on Jan 22 at 10 a.m. The repairs were expected to take ten hours. Meanwhile, the Solent Coastguard was coordinating and monitoring the vessel's safety every 60 minutes. There was a crew of 21 on board. The vessel was carrying 43.800 tonnes of coal.
