MRCC Sakhalin says boxship Hyundai Singapore lost 40 containers in rough weather, there was no fire on board. Containers were lost in approximately 45-47.2N 150-46.5E position, near southern islands of Kuril Archipelago, Pacific ocean. First news: Boxship Hyundai Singapore lost 40 containers, 1 is on fire, Pacific ocean MRCC Moscow received emergency report from MRCC Sakhalin on April 5 2012, boxship Hyundai Singapore en route from Oakland to Busan lost 40 containers, 1 container is on fire, vessel is in Pacific ocean some 40 miles east of Urup island, Kuril Islands. Boxship didn’t issue distress signal and didn’t ask for assistance. Japan Coast Guard sent a plane to the vessel, MRCC Sakhalin is trying to contact Hyundai Singapore, situation is unclear. MRCC didn’t explain how did they get the information, it is not clear also, how the containers were lost. MRCC Otaru, Japan, and MRCC Sakhalin are coordinating their efforts to locate and contact the vessel and render assistance if needed. Maritime Bulletin http://www.odin.tc
