Philippine Coast Guard Honors MOL-operated LNG Carrier
Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL; President & CEO: Junichiro Ikeda) today announced that its operated LNG carrier LNG MALEO is for the rescue operation off Mindanao (*) commended by Philippine Coast Guard on October 12. The awarding ceremony held in Manila, Republic of the Philippines, during the 115th anniversary event of Philippine Coast Guard on the same day. H.E. Mr. Rodrigo R. Duterte, President of the Republic of the Philippines, presented a trophy to MOL Capt. Nobuyuki Mochizuki, Master of LNG MALEO at the time of rescue operation.
MOL LNG Carrier Rescues Castaways – Three survivors rescued off Mindanao in the Pacific Ocean
Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. announced that on August 4, 2016, the MOL-operated LNG Carrier LNG MALEO safely rescued three survivors about 280 km to the east off Mindanao, Republic of the Philippines, in the Pacific Ocean. - -At 16:35 (all times in local time) on August 4, 2016, the LNG MALEO, sailing from Port of Luwuk, Republic of Indonesia to Port of Oita, Japan found a drifting crews of fishing boat and immediately changed course to approach them and started rescue operations. -At 17:53 of the same day, all three survivors were safely rescued. -At 08:14 on August 5, 2016, all survivors were turned over to a rescue boat arranged by the Philippine Coast Guard.
