One dead in collision off Jeju Island
The "Tong Mao 1" was in collision with a 9-ton fishing vessel from South Korea 25 miles southeast of Seoqwipo off southern Jeju Island in the afternoon of July 1, 2017. The fishing vessel sank, the six crew members were rescued by the freighter. One of them was severely injured and later airlifted by a helicopter, but died in a hospital. The "Tong Mao 1" was en route from Qingdao to Yatsushiro.
