Containership attacked by Houthi terrorists
On July 9, 2024, the British maritime security agency United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) received a report of an attack on the Maersk Sentosa, transiting through the Red Sea. The incident occurred 180 nautical miles east of Nishtun, Yemen. The captain reported that the vessel experienced a nearby explosion. The vessel did not report any damage and is sailing towards its next port of call. No casualties were reported. The vessel was attacked using various ballistic and wing missiles in the north of the Gulf of Aden. A spokesperson of Houthi terrorists also claimed to have attacked two other vessels, the Marathopolis, sailing in the Arabian Sea, and the MSC Patnaree III in the Gulf of Aden using drones. Earlier on July 7, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) destroyed two Houthis uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs) in the Houthis-controlled region in Yemen.

On 13-MAR-11 at 05:45 UTC, the Maersk Sentosa was approached by 3 suspected PAG skiffs whiile underway in position 12 21' 0" N, 44 1' 0" E, 42nm SE of Bab El Mandeb on bearing 289 and 63nm SW of Aden Port, Yemen on bearing 65. One skiff with 5 suspected pirates and ladders on board came within 1.2nm of the Container Ship which increased speed and the skiffs eventually broke off their pursuit.
