Medevac off Virginia Beach
The US Coast Guard medevaced a 28-year-old man from the "Maersk Santana" 20 miles east of Virginia Beach on Jan 2, 2016. Sector Hampton Roads watchstanders received a report at 10:20 a.m. that a man suffered burns on his arms and legs. At 11:16 a.m., a helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City launched to medevac the injured man. The helicopter crew arrived on scene at 11:39 a.m. and transferred the man to the helicopter. The helicopter crew arrived at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk at 12:26 p.m where the man was transferred to awaiting EMS personnel. The patient was last reported in stable condition.
