Container ship broke lose in Lisbon

On Feb 8, 2026, both the 'Liverpool Express' and the 'Seattle C' (IMO 9360910) got in trouble in a storm at the container terminal in Lisbon on Feb 8, 2026. The 'Seattle C' broke lose from its moorings amid storm gusts and drifted away from its berth. The ship anchored in pos. 38° 41' N 009° 11' W at the outer approaches to Lisbon. No major damage nor injuries were reported. Also the 'Liverpool Express' (IMO: 9232565), which was moored behind the 'Seattle C', broke a headline. The vessel subsequently also anchored near the 'Seattle C' and the port again on Feb 14, headed to Tanger-Med, where it arrived on Feb 17. Video: https://x.com/i/status/2022589096577614317

The 'Liverpool Express' was disabled due to a failure of the main engine lubricating oil pump, 0,7 miles north-northwest of Vercheres, Quebec, in position 45 47 06.9 N, 73 21 07.1 W, on March 29, 2020, at 10.30 a.m. The vessel ran aground shortly after. It was refloated and then proceeded to Montreal under its own power with tug assistance, and left port again on March 30 at 5.10 p.m., headed to Algericas, ETA April 9.

Container ship attacked by pirates

The "Liverpool Express", while sailing in position 02 31 S, 80 05 W, 3.6 miles off Isla Escalante, Ecuador, was approached from astern by a fast-moving boat on April 1, 2019. Subsequently, the duty officer on board alerted the rest of the crew. Another boat was then noticed. One of the boats, with 10 perpetrators followed the vessel, while the second boat approached the vessel from the starboard side attempting to hook on a telescopic ladder to the vessel?s guard rails. The pilot notified the Port Control and the Ecuador Coast Guard. The perpetrators fired a few shots towards the search lights resulting in all the vessel's crew retreating into the bridge and the accommodation area. Later the boats aborted their approach and moved away. All the crew members were reported to be safe.
