Crew member died after falling from board
A 38-year-old Chinese citizen died after accidentally injuring himself and falling from the 'Maersk Jakarta' near Patenga Light House, Chittagong, in the morning of Oct 8, 2021. The deceased was identified as Hu Haikiang, 38, who used to work as a deck foreman of the ship. Haikiang was carrying out repairs at the ship near Patenga beach when the accident happened. A Coast Guard patrol ship rescued the crew and rushed him to Chittagong Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) around 12:15 p.m., where the duty doctor declared him dead.
