Container ship escorted migrant boat with 53 POB
On Aug 13, 2023, at 7 p.m. the surveillance aircraft Sasemar 101 located a precarious boat about 40 nautical miles from Gran Tarajal. The MRCC of Salvamento Marítimo in LasPalmas center diverted the 'Maersk Congo', which escorted the boat until the arrival of the SAR vessel 'Salvamar Izar', which rescued the 53 people who were on board. The castaways were disembarked in Gran Tarajal.
