Tanker robbed off Lubuk Gaung
The "Maersk Aegean" was robbed while the ship was anchored at Lubuk Gaung in Dumai, Sumatra, on March 12, 2017. Indonesian thieves stole various equipment from the engine room workshop. The second engineer remarked that various equipment was missing from the engine room workshop. After checking, it turned out that an emergency exit to the ship's control room had been opened. A search was conducted, but without any people being found. The operator and port authority was informed. The ship was only able to get away with a portable welding apparatus, a drill and an electric hacksaw.
