Ship damaged by own anchor
The 'Maersk Acadia', after departing from Rio Grance on Jan 30, 2026, sailed with its anchor at the waterline, causing it to strike the hull and resulting in damage to the starboard side bow. The ship has been at anchor in Valparaíso Bay in pos. 33° 01' N 071° 35' W after a short port call on Feb 20, and was expected to remain there for some time for the completion of the hull repairs. The ship remained stationary as of March 2, while the hull was covered up, working from scaffoldings.
