Heavy fine for dumping waste over board in Izmir
The 'Nanac' was finded to pay a heavy penalty for polluting the sea in Izmit by the Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality Environmental Protection and Control Department on Aug 26, 2020. During the routine inspections carried out in Izmit Bay, the ship had dumped domestic waste into the sea at the starboard side. The pollution was detected as a result of the sample taken at om the place where the waste was poured, and as a result of this, an administrative fine of 922.102 Turkish Lira was imposed in accordance with the environmental protection law.
