Investigations into death in cargo hold
The two dockers who died on board the "Latika Naree" on July 25, 2017, in Chittagong, were found dead in Hold 2, downstairs. The vessel had arrived at Chittagong with cargo of logs, and the cargo hold 2 was still closed, offloading of holds 1 and 3 was underway. The police and port administration assumed the dockers either stumbled in the dark while climbing down the ladder, or inhaled toxic gas, which could have accumulated in the closed hold, went dizzy and fell down. Both had injures at their heads, inflicted by falling from the height.

Two Chittagong dockworkers were found dead this morning. The two men were helping unload logs from a Precious Shipping vessel, the Latika Naree. The pair were found deep inside one of the holds of the ship. A local police chief commented: “We are still not sure about how they died.
