Ferry taken out of service for coronovirus risk
The ferry "Ampere", which runs between Lavik and Oppedal on the E39 route, was temporarily taken out of service on March 12, 2020, at the risk of coronary infection. Aman in the lap of one of the ferry employees had tested positive for coronary infection. He was put ashore and tested for contamination while the ferry was disinfected and washed down. The operator was in dialogue with the health care system about when other crews can be cleared for further work, and will follow the advice they provide.
Ferry suffered propulsion trouble
In the afternoon of Jan 22, 2019, the "Ampere" suffered problems with one propeller and was unable to get berthed at the quay in Lavik upon its arrival from Oppedal around 3 p.m. The ferry "Oppedal" (IMO: 9419216), was called to assist the "Ampere" to the quay after half an hour during which she was adrift on the fjord. Another 30 minutes later she was finally docked. The "Ampere" was then taken out of service, and the ferry "Stavanger" was called as a replacement ship and was on its way from Sunnhordaland in order to start its service on Jan 23 at 10 a.m. At the quay in Lavik it was meanwhile found out that an electrical component had burned itself so the ferry lost propulsion at one end. The ferry has two identical engine systems at each side. The ferry arrived at Bergen on Feb 3. Double trouble for ferry
The ferry capacity on the Lavik-Oppedal route was timewise reduced on May 31, 2018, due to technical problems of the "Ampere". Sailings at 09:30 a.m. from Oppedal and at 10.10 a.m. were cancelled due to a problem with cooling system of one of the engines. Already on May 23 the ship had encountered trouble with the battery system which was repaired only on May 28.
