Nov 26, 2019 18:30

Around 3,000 litres of heavy fuel oil leaked from the 'Dimitris L' during supply operations on Nov 13, 2019. The vessel was berthed at the Termasa Terminal, Rio Grande, for loading of soybean destined to China. Containment barriers and absorption blankets were applied immediately to prevent oil spreading to the beaches around but a small part of the oil reached the Cassino beach. An administrative inquiry was initiated by Port Captaincy to determine the cause of the leak.
