Bulkcarrier grounded at coal terminal

The "Samatan", with a crew of 24 on board and being loaded with a cargo of coal, ran aground in the afternoon of July 22, 2017, while approaching the coal terminal of the Huaneng Dongfang power plant at the Western coast of Hainan Island. The bulkcarrier was refloated on July 23 at night with the help of several tugs which had started their salvage attempt at 11 p.m., and berthed at the pier of the power plant. DryShips Sells Panamax Bulker in Package Deal

Greek owner of drybulk carriers DryShips Inc. has sold five of its Panamax vessels for an aggregate gross price of USD 29.4 million. Namely, two Panamax vessels Amalfi and Samatan, along with their associated bank debt, were sold to entities controlled by the company’s Chairman and CEO, George Economou.
